Vishnu Hair Dresser

Being right by the 15 No. Bus Stand in Vidhyadhar Nagar means there is always a lot of noise and people moving about. Vishnu Hair Dresser has been here for years, tucked away right at the bus stand. You can hear the conductors shouting and the engines idling all day. It is a simple place with a few chairs and mirrors that have seen better days. I started this because people always need a quick shave or a trim before they catch their bus or when they get home from work. It is mostly men from the area or travelers passing through. We don't have air conditioning, just the ceiling fans that hum loudly. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out or work by the door light. It's not a fancy place where you get coffee. It's just a barber shop. We talk about the weather or the local news while I work. I know most of my regulars by their names and how they like their hair cut. Some people have been coming since I first opened the doors. The floors get covered in hair pretty fast, and I’m always sweeping. It keeps me busy from morning till night. Living and working in Jaipur is good, even with the dust and the heat. We just keep the scissors moving and hope for a good day. That's what we do here at the bus stand.
