The shop is right on Tonk Road, which is one of the busiest stretches of road you will find in the city. Vinod Home Decor & Handicrafts is packed with all sorts of things, from small wooden carvings to larger items meant for the house. It is a bit of a squeeze walking between the rows sometimes because we try to fit a lot of stock in. People driving by often pull over when they see something interesting through the front window. We spend a lot of time dusting things off because the road outside brings in a lot of grit and sand. It is mostly just about showing people what we have and helping them carry it to their car. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. Some days are slow, and we just sit and watch the traffic go by. Other days, someone wants to buy a whole bunch of stuff for a new house, and we spend hours wrapping things in bubble wrap and old newspaper so they don't break. The floor is concrete, and we have some old rugs down. It smells a bit like wood and polish inside the shop. We don't do much advertising; people just know we are here on the main road. It is a straightforward business, and we like the items we sell. Every piece has its own look, being handicrafts and all. We close up when it gets dark.
