Varsha Hair Dresser

This shop is in Jagat Pura, right in the main market at Shop No. 3. We are quite close to the railway pathak, so you can always hear the trains passing by and the bells ringing at the crossing. It’s a loud area but we’re used to it. The market is always crowded with people buying vegetables or stuff for their homes. Our place is small. We have the usual mirrors and the old chairs that have been here for years. It’s a family-run kind of thing, nothing fancy or polished. Most of our customers are locals who live in the lanes behind the market. They come in for a quick trim or a shave before heading to work. We keep the radio on sometimes to drown out the traffic. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so someone is always sweeping. It’s just honest work. We don't use any of those expensive machines, just scissors and razors. During the rainy season, the road outside gets a bit messy, but people still find their way in. I've known some of these customers since they were little boys. Now they bring their own kids. It’s a steady life here near the tracks. We open up in the morning and stay until the lights in the market go off. It's just what we do every day without much fuss.
