V K Moulding is tucked away in Choudhary Market over in C Scheme. It’s a small place but we have a lot of samples hanging on the walls. Most of what we do is cutting and joining pieces for people who want to frame their photos or mirrors. The floor is usually covered in little bits of wood or plastic shavings. We try to sweep up but it just gets messy again five minutes later. The machines we use are old but they still cut straight. We don't have a big sign outside. Usually, people find us by word of mouth or because they were already in the market for something else. It gets pretty hot in the afternoon because the shop faces the sun. We keep a small radio playing in the corner to pass the time. Sometimes a customer brings in something very old and fragile. Those jobs make us a bit nervous. Most of the time it’s just standard sizes. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop around. We just want to finish the work on the table so we can go home. It’s a simple life. C Scheme has changed a lot since we started, with new cafes and shops popping up, but we’re still here doing the same thing. People often come in with pictures of their kids or their parents. We handle those with a bit of extra care. The glue we use has a very strong smell.
