Upka Hair Saloon

Upka Hair Saloon is found in Kotputli, right in the Shanti Bazar area on Old Hospital Road. Even though some people talk about Barrackpore or Kolkata, we are right here in the Jaipur district. The shop is a simple one, nothing like the ones you see in the big malls of the city. We just have the basic tools needed for haircutting. There are a few chairs for customers and a small table where we keep the newspapers. People come in and read while they wait their turn. It’s a local place where men from the neighborhood come to get their hair cut and talk about the news. We don't have a lot of space, so it can get a bit cramped when three or four people are waiting. The walls are painted a simple color and we have a few lights that hum a little bit. We’ve been here for quite some time now. Most of our customers are regulars who have been coming to us for years. They don't even have to tell us how they want their hair, we already know. It’s an honest business. We don’t use any expensive products, just what is available nearby. The shop is a part of the daily life on Old Hospital Road. We open up, sweep the floor, and wait for the first person of the day. It’s just how we spend our time.
