The World Fashions

Over at 72, Ganga Sagar in Vaishali Nagar, the day usually starts with the sound of several sewing machines clicking away. The World Fashions is where we spend all our time working with different fabrics and threads. Our space is not very large, but we have managed to make it work for us over the years. Most days, the floor is littered with small scraps of colorful cloth. We try to sweep it up when we can, but a new roll of fabric always brings more mess with it. The machines make a constant humming noise that you eventually stop noticing after being here for a few hours. Neighbors from around the area often stop by just to say hello or to ask about a specific color they are looking for. We have racks lining every wall, and things often get moved around, so finding a specific size can take a minute. It is just a small group of us doing everything from checking the quality of the seams to folding the finished clothes. The light in the front of the shop is much better than in the back, so that is where we do the trickier work. It gets a little crowded when a new shipment arrives, and we have to shift the tables around. We do not have any fancy decor or polished counters. It is just a normal shop where we do our daily tasks and drink tea.
