The Ashok Hair Art

Our shop is situated in Sitaram Bazaar, right near Chandi Ki Taksal and very close to the State Bank branch. This part of Jaipur is always crowded and full of life, especially in the afternoons. It’s the kind of place where you have to dodge bikes and vegetable carts just to get to the door. Inside, it is a bit quieter, though you can still hear the temple bells and the vendors shouting outside. We have been cutting hair here for a long time. The mirrors have a few spots on them from the years, and the floor tile is worn down in the spots where we stand while working. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that move the warm air around and keep the flies away. People stop by while they are out doing their daily shopping in the bazaar. It is a local spot where neighbors catch up on the latest news or the weather. We don't use fancy products, just the standard soaps and shaving creams that have been around forever. The light comes in through the open front door, and we keep the scissors sharp. It isn't a place for anything complicated or modern. You come in, you get your trim, and you go back out into the heat of the bazaar. It is a small space, but it serves the people around Chandi Ki Taksal just fine. We are very used to the noise and the dust of this old street.
