Tarun Handicrafts

Down on Khatipura Road in Jhotwara, you’ll find us at 21, Guddiwal Bhawan. Tarun Handicrafts isn't a big factory or anything like that. It’s more of a workshop where things actually get made by us. The building has been there for a long time and it has that old feel to it. We deal with a lot of different materials every day. Sometimes it’s wood, sometimes it’s metal, and the floor is usually covered in scraps by noon. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. Most of the stuff is just piled up or sitting on workbenches until it’s finished and ready to go. People from around Jhotwara know where we are, mostly by the sound of hammers or the smell of varnish coming from the open door. It gets pretty loud when everyone is working at once. We don't really have a set routine other than starting early and finishing when the light gets too dim to see the details clearly. It’s a bit of a messy process but that’s how handicrafts go. We’re just regular people who like working with our hands. We don't spend money on big ads. Most people just find us by walking past or hearing about us from a neighbor. It’s a quiet life in a busy part of town, and we’re happy to keep it that way at Guddiwal Bhawan.
