Taj Fabric

Kagzi Colony in Sanganer is where you’ll find us at Taj Fabric. If you walk down the main lane, you can smell the dyes and see the fabric hanging out to dry on the rooftops. Our place is tucked away a bit, but we’re always here. It’s a messy process, working with all these textiles. We have large wooden tables where the cloth gets laid out, and there are splashes of color on almost every surface. It’s not a quiet place because there’s always someone moving something or a motorbike idling outside. We handle a lot of cotton, and the lint gets everywhere, even in our hair sometimes. My nephew helps me with the accounts, though he’d rather be on his phone. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights; we just show people the bundles as they come off the line. It's a lot of manual work, lifting heavy rolls and making sure the patterns aren't smudged. Sometimes the water supply is a bit low, and that slows us down. We eat our lunch together in the back room where it's a bit cooler. People from the city come by looking for deals, and we just tell them what we have available. It’s a hard life sometimes, but it’s what we know how to do. Sanganer is our home, and we’ve been part of this colony for a long time. It stays pretty busy most days.
