You can find us at 6 Bapu Bazar, inside Dass Market Bagh. Being in Bapu Bazar means there is always something happening outside the door. It is a very colorful and busy area. We have been working with handicrafts for a long time. The shop is filled with all sorts of things, from small wooden items to fabric pieces. There isn't much empty space on the walls here. We spend a lot of our time unpacking crates that come in from different artisans. Some of the stuff is a bit dusty when it arrives, so we spend time cleaning it up before putting it out on the shelves. It’s a family-run thing, really. We sit on the floor cushions most of the day because it is more comfortable than chairs when you are sorting through stock. Customers come in and out, some just looking and some looking for a specific gift for someone. We don't do any big advertisements or marketing. People usually just find us while they are walking through the market. The air in the market smells like incense and street food most days. It’s a good place to work. We try to keep things organized, but with so many small items, it can get a bit messy. Swati Handicrafts is just our way of making a living by selling things people have made with their hands. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy from morning until the market closes at night.
