If you look for us at 102 near the Jaipur G P O in Sodala, you’ll find Swastik Handicrafts. We are situated in Krishnapuri, which is a nice enough area but gets quite congested during the rush hour. Our daily routine involves a lot of manual work. We deal with various handcrafted items, so there’s always a lot of packing material, wood shavings, or fabric scraps lying around the floor. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. The shop is more of a workshop really. Most days are spent checking the quality of pieces coming in or getting things ready for customers. We don’t have a fancy showroom with bright lights. It’s just shelves filled with things people have made. Sometimes we sit on the floor to do the packing because it's easier. Being near the GPO is handy for when we have to send things out. You see a lot of different people walking by our door. Some just peak in out of curiosity. We’ve been in this spot for a while, and the neighbors all know us. We don’t bother with big slogans or anything. We just focus on the items we have and getting through the pile of work on the table. It’s a bit noisy with the fans going and the street sounds, but it’s a good place to be.
