Spyker Hair & Beauty Salon

This shop is over in the Pratap Nagar shopping centre, specifically at 70/A67. We are quite close to the Shyopur bus stand, so there is always a lot of noise and movement outside the windows. I chose this spot because it's convenient for people living in the colony to just walk over while they are out for other errands. The interior is just basic stuff, chairs that spin and mirrors that cover most of the wall. I spend most of my day standing on my feet, going from one customer to the next without much of a break. Some days it’s mostly young guys looking for a specific style they saw on their phones, and other days it’s older men who just want the same cut they’ve had for twenty years. I don’t mind either way as long as they are happy with the result. I have a few helpers here because we get more people than a one-man shop could handle. We talk about local things, sports, or the traffic near the bus stand which is always a mess in the evenings. The floor gets swept many times a day but you can never quite get all the little hairs up from the tiles. It’s just part of the job. We try to keep the fans going because it gets really hot in Jaipur during the afternoons. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s a good place to see what’s going on in the neighborhood.
