Sonu Hair Dresser

If you know the Kot Khavda Mod in Chaksu, then you probably know where Sonu Hair Dresser is. We are right there at the crossing where everything happens in this part of the district. The shop is small and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it stays busy enough for us. I spend most of my day standing on my feet, moving around the chairs. We get a lot of people who are just passing through Chaksu on their way somewhere else, along with our regulars who live right nearby. The morning starts with a cup of tea and then we get to work. There is always a lot of dust coming in from the road, so the broom is never far away. We use the basic stuff—manual clippers sometimes, mostly scissors and razors. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. Sometimes in the evening, a few neighbors will just sit outside the shop on the steps and chat for a bit even if they don't need a haircut. It feels like a good spot to be in, even when the heat is bad in the summer. Jaipur can be a tough place when it is hot, but we just keep the water spray handy and keep going.
