Our place is known as Soma House and it sits in the Khatipura area. We have been working with blockprints here for a long time. It is a busy environment. You will usually find the tables covered in cloth and the smell of ink and wood in the air. We aren't a typical factory. It feels more like a workshop where everyone knows each other. Soma Blockprints Pvt. Ltd. has grown over the years, but we still do things in a very hands-on way. Khatipura is a bit away from the main city rush, which is nice for focusing on the patterns. The building itself has plenty of room for the printing beds, but we still find ourselves running out of space when a big order comes in. We don't have a polished front office. If you come by, you'll see people actually working, not just sitting at computers. We use a lot of water and a lot of patience. Sometimes a print doesn't come out right and we have to start over. That is just part of the process. We don't try to hide the mistakes or the mess. It is a real workshop. We keep our tools sharp and our dyes mixed. It's a steady rhythm of work that fills our days from morning till evening. Most of us have been doing this for years, so we don't need to talk much to get the job done.
