Sitaram Salon

Sitaram Salon is located out in Kotputli on Old Hospital Road. We are part of Shanti Bazar, which is a very active market area. The address says Barrackpore, Kolkata as well, but our day-to-day life is right here in this part of Jaipur district, 303108. It’s a long way from the main city, so things move a bit slower here. Our shop is quite traditional. We don’t have the modern furniture you see in the city salons. We have sturdy chairs and basic tools that have served us well for years. The chairs might creak a little when you sit down, but they've been here as long as I can remember. The market outside is always full of people buying vegetables or clothes, and the noise filters into the shop all day long. We don't have any fancy lighting, just the tubes on the ceiling. Most of our customers are local farmers or shopkeepers from the bazaar who have been coming to us for a long time. They don’t want anything complicated, just a simple shave or a trim. We keep a pot of water and some basic soap ready. Sometimes it gets dusty because of the unpaved parts of the road nearby, so we have to wipe everything down often. We don't have a manager or a boss; we just run the place ourselves and make sure the doors are open on time. It is a quiet, honest way to make a living.
