Simla Hotel

We're right by the Hawa Mahal road. It gets noisy out there with all the traffic and tourists, but inside it's okay. We started Simla Hotel a long time ago. My father used to handle the front desk and now I do. We have rooms for people traveling on a budget. Most folks just need a bed and a fan. We try to keep the floors clean but the dust from the road always finds a way in. In the mornings, you can hear the bells from the temples nearby. It's a busy part of the city. Chandi Ki Taksal is famous for jewelry work, so we get a lot of workers and small traders staying here. The tea stall next door makes a good cup if you're up early. We don't have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Just a counter and some chairs. Sometimes the power goes out, but that's just how it is here. We tell people to bring their own soap if they are picky. It's just a simple place for a night's sleep. We keep the doors open till late because people arrive on buses at odd hours. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't it, but we've been here for years and know everyone on the street. It’s a lot of work keeping things going, but we like being in the center of things. You see everything from our front door.
