Shree Ganesh Handicrafts

Over at H-2 in the Shopping Centre at Subhash Nagar, you will find Shree Ganesh Handicrafts. It is a bit of a squeeze inside because we have so many items on the shelves. We sell all kinds of handmade things, and every piece has its own little quirks. The shop smells like sandalwood and old fabric most of the time. We spend a lot of our day unpacking new stock or wrapping things up for people who come in. The shopping centre gets really busy on the weekends, so we don't get much rest then. During the week, it’s quieter and we can sit and talk with the regular customers who just come by for a chat. We have a small rug on the floor that’s seen better days, and the shelves are made of simple wood we put up ourselves. It’s a family-run kind of place, so you might see one of the kids sitting in the back doing homework while we work. We don't use any fancy computer systems for the inventory; it’s mostly just notes in a big ledger book. Sometimes we find a beautiful piece that’s been tucked away in a box for months and forgotten about. It’s a bit disorganized, but that is part of the charm, I guess. We just like having a shop in the neighborhood and seeing the same faces every week.
