Shayona Art & Crafts

We are located over on Ajmer Road near the Brahampuri Thana. Shayona Art & Crafts is basically where we keep all the things we make and collect. Golimar Sadan is an easy enough building to find if you are looking. Our space is usually full of half-finished projects and pieces of wood or fabric. It’s a bit messy but that’s how we work. We don’t really have a big showroom. It’s more of a place where we get things done. Sometimes tourists find their way here but mostly it’s locals or people who know us. The dust from the road gets in quite a bit so we are always wiping things down. We work with our hands mostly. Some days are slow and we just sit and work on small details. Other days we have big orders and everyone is rushing around. My brother and I run the place and we’ve been doing this since we were younger. We learned from watching the older craftsmen in the neighborhood. It’s not a glamorous job. Your fingers get sore and your back aches by the end of the day. But we like seeing a finished piece after a week of work. The light in the workshop is okay in the mornings but we have to use extra lamps when the sun goes down. We just keep doing what we know how to do and try not to let the noise of the traffic bother us. It is a simple craft life.
