Shamsi General Store

The store is at 149 Indira Bazar. It has been around for a long time. My family has been running it since the time the buildings around here looked much different. We sell all the usual things you would expect to find in a neighborhood shop. There are bags of rice, lentils, some soaps, and notebooks for the school kids. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, so we have a small wooden ladder to reach the items on the top. Indira Bazar is always full of people, and the noise from the street comes right through the front door. We keep it open most of the day to let some air in. In the summer, it gets quite hot inside, but we have a ceiling fan that helps a bit. Usually, the neighbors stop by in the morning to get milk or bread. We spend a lot of time just chatting with whoever walks in. It's not a supermarket where everything is perfectly organized. Sometimes things get shifted around and we have to search for a specific brand of tea for a customer. We know which floorboards creak when you walk on them. It’s just a simple way of living. We don't do any big advertising or anything. People know where we are if they need something for their kitchen or house. It's just how things have always been at number 149. It is a bit crowded inside, but that is part of the charm.
