Selection Handmade Papers

Selection Handmade Papers is based out in Sanganer at a place called Teja Ji Ka Bara. If you know Sanganer you know it is famous for its craft traditions and we are right in the middle of it. Our workspace is more like a workshop than a corporate office. There is a lot of water and pulp around because of the way the paper is made. We have big open spaces where the sheets are laid out to dry in the sun. It depends a lot on the weather. If it rains we have to move everything inside quickly which can be a real scramble. The ground at Teja Ji Ka Bara is often covered in colorful scraps and there is always the sound of people working. We don't have a fancy showroom. Most of the time we are just in our working clothes covered in a bit of fiber or dye. It is a messy job but we have been doing it this way for years. Our office is just a small corner with a single desk and a computer where we track the orders. We don't have air conditioning so we rely on the breeze coming through the open doors. It is a very grounded way to work and we like being part of the Sanganer community. People stop by to chat and we usually have a pot of tea going for anyone who visits. It is honest work and we just take it one day at a time.
