Raj Mahal Sarees

Raj Mahal Sarees is right on Ajmer Road in Sodala. We are very easy to find because we are located right near the police station. It’s a busy part of town. There is always a lot of traffic and people walking by. Our shop is full of colors from all the sarees we keep on the shelves. We don't have fancy lighting, just some basic fluorescent tubes that make everything bright. The counters are made of dark wood and have some scratches from years of use. We spend our time unfolding fabrics for customers and then folding them back up again. It’s a lot of work to keep things neat. Sometimes the police officers from next door come by just to say hello or get a glass of water. Sodala is a loud place, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home. We have a small stool for the older ladies to sit on while they look at the patterns. The floor is tiled but some of the tiles are cracked. We don't mind. It’s a real shop for real people. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years. Ajmer Road used to be much quieter. Now, it’s a hub of activity. We keep the doors open to let in some air, even if the dust comes in too. It’s just us here, Raj Mahal Sarees, doing our daily business near the station.
