Satyanarayan Harishankar

Satyanarayan Harishankar is located at stall A-18 inside the Rajdhani Krishi Mandi along Sikar Road. If you know the Mandi, you know it’s not the kind of place for anyone who likes peace and quiet. From the very early hours of the morning, it is a constant stream of activity with people moving fast and vehicles trying to squeeze through tight gaps. Our space at A-18 is mostly used for storing what comes in and out, so there isn't much room for anything else. We have a small corner with a few ledgers and a calculator where we spend the slower moments of the day. The roof is high and made of tin, so when it rains, the sound is so loud you can’t hear yourself think. It gets very hot in the summer months, and we rely on a single old fan to keep the air from getting too stale. Most of our day is spent talking to the same faces we’ve seen for years. There isn't any polished talk here; it’s just the practical business of the market. We don't go out of our way to make the place look nice because that’s not what people expect when they come to Sikar Road. It is a working stall for Satyanarayan Harishankar, and as long as the work gets done and the records are right, we are happy with how things are. It’s just how life is at the Mandi.
