Sattva Sarees

You can find us over at Narain Singh Circle, right near the Trimurti Circle area. Sattva Sarees has been sitting at number 4 for a good bit of time. It’s a busy spot with all the cars and rickshaws constantly buzzing around the circle outside. Inside, it’s a different story. We spend our days unfolding and folding sarees, which is more work than you might think. We have shelves stacked high with different fabrics. Some are cotton, some are heavier, and they all need to be kept neat so we can find what someone is looking for. The lighting in here is okay, but we often take a piece of cloth to the door to see how the color looks in actual sunlight. Customers come in and sit on the benches, and we just start showing them what we have. It gets a bit crowded on Saturdays when everyone is out shopping. We don't have a fancy computer system for everything; we still write things down in a big ledger most of the time. My coffee usually gets cold because I get caught up talking to someone about a border design or a particular weave. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting those heavy bundles and making sure nothing gets snagged on the edges of the counters. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city, just a reliable one where you know what you’re getting.
