Sankhala Handicrafts

Sankhala Handicrafts is right at Shop No. 54, and it just so happens we are directly opposite the Hawa Mahal. It’s an amazing view to have from the front door every morning. Because of where we are, we see thousands of people every day. Most of them are just taking pictures of the palace, but some of them wander into our shop to see what we have. We sell all kinds of handicrafts that are common in this region. It’s a small place, and it can get very crowded when a tour group comes in all at once. We don't have any corporate training or anything; we just talk to people like normal. I usually have to keep an eye on the street because it's so busy with rickshaws and tourists. We keep our items out where people can see them from the sidewalk. It gets really hot in the afternoons, but that’s just part of being in this area. We’ve been here for years, and we know most of the other shopkeepers on this block. We don't really do anything besides selling our crafts and making sure the shop is tidy enough for visitors. It’s a simple life, but being across from such a famous building makes it interesting every single day. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else, even with the constant noise of the city. I guess we are just used to it now.
