Sabhi Hair Parlour

Sabhi Hair Parlour is located in Shahpura on the Neem Ka Thana Road. It’s a bit of a dusty stretch but we try to keep the inside tidy. This is where locals from this part of Jaipur come when they need a trim. It's not a big place, just three chairs and a long mirror that runs across the wall. The morning sun comes in quite strong through the front door. We have a small TV but it usually just shows the news or some old songs. Most people who come here are farmers or people working in the nearby shops. We talk about the crops or the price of things in the city. The scissors have a specific sound when they snip. I’ve grown used to it over the years. We have a wooden bench outside for when the shop is full. Sometimes the goats from the neighbor's yard wander close to the door. It’s a quiet life most days, except for the buses rumbling past on the road to Neem Ka Thana. We use the basic razors and plenty of shaving cream. Nothing fancy, just honest work. If you stay long enough, you’ll hear all the gossip from the village. We close up when the sun goes down and the streetlights come on. It’s just how things are done here in Shahpura. The floor is made of simple tiles that we have to scrub every week. The water we use for the spray comes from the tap at the back.
