S. G. Art India

S. G. Art India is located right opposite the Gandhinagar Crossing on Tonk Road. If you’ve ever been stuck in traffic at that crossing, you’ve probably seen our sign. It’s a busy intersection, so there’s always a lot of noise from the horns and the engines outside. Inside, we have our collection of art pieces and various items we’ve made or collected. It’s a bit of a jumble sometimes. We have things stacked on tables and leaning against the walls. We don't have a professional decorator to make the place look like a museum. It’s more of a workshop feel where you can see the tools we use. Tonk Road is a main artery of the city, so we get people from all over stopping in. We spend a lot of time explaining how certain things are made or where the materials came from. It’s not a scripted sales pitch, just us talking about our work. Some days the dust from the road gets inside, and we have to spend a lot of time cleaning. We are a small team, so everyone does a bit of everything, from answering the phone to packing up the heavy pieces. We like being in the middle of all the action at the crossing. It makes the day go by fast. We just focus on the art and the daily chores of running a small shop. It is hard work but we enjoy seeing what we can create.
