If you're coming down Kings Road, it's not hard to find us. We’ve been in this spot for a good while. The school nearby means there’s always a lot of activity, especially with parents and buses. Our parlour is a simple place. We’ve got a few chairs and the usual equipment you’d expect. I usually start the day by cleaning the mirrors and checking if we have enough supplies. It’s just me and another girl most days. We get a lot of regulars from Padmavati Colony. It feels like a small community here. We don't do anything too fancy, just the basic beauty services that people ask for. Sometimes the Jaipur heat makes us stay inside all day with the AC on. The walls are painted a light color and we have some plants by the door, though they struggle in the summer. It’s a job like any other, really. We talk to the ladies about their families and what's happening in the city. There is no big corporate vibe here, just us doing our work. People know they can just walk in and we’ll see if we have a spot. It’s a busy life but we’re used to the rhythm of Kings Road by now. Usually, by six in the evening, we start wrapping things up to head home.
