Rinku Hair Dresses

Under the Delhi Bypass Puliya in Transport Nagar, that’s where Rinku Hair Dresses is. It’s at a place called Gote Walo Ki Bageechi. Being under the bridge means it’s a bit shaded, which is nice in the Jaipur summer, but it’s also very noisy because of the heavy trucks overhead. The shop is small and the walls are a bit rough. We have the basic equipment—scissors, combs, and a few razors. We keep our things in a wooden cabinet that’s seen better days. There’s a lot of dust from the bypass, so we are always wiping down the mirrors. Most of our customers are the people who work in the transport offices or the mechanics from nearby. They aren't looking for anything fancy, just a clean shave or a short haircut. We have a small stool for the barber and a bench for the customers. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use the light from the doorway. It’s a very practical kind of place. We don't have any posters of celebrities on the walls, just the name of the shop. My brother and I run it together. We take turns going for lunch while the other one stays in the shop. It’s a tough spot with all the noise, but we’ve been here for years and we know the regulars. We use simple soap and water for most of the work. The floor is swept many times a day because of the dust coming from the puliya above.
