Ram Chander Damodar Lal

You can find us at number 8 in Purohit Ji Ka Katla. It is one of those busy little areas tucked inside Johari Bazar. Ram Chander Damodar Lal is the name written on our board, but most of the people around here just know us by sight. The Katla is always full of energy, with people carrying big bundles of cloth and tea sellers moving through the crowd constantly. Our shop is quite small, like most of the places in this part of town. We have to be very careful with how we stack our stock or there would not be any place left for us to sit down. It is a bit of a maze getting here if you are not used to the layout of the bazar. We have seen the market change a lot over the years, but our little corner stays mostly the same. We do not go in for fancy lights or big glass displays. It is just a practical space for doing our business. My brother and I run the place together. We take turns going out for lunch while the other one stays back to watch the shop. There is not much down time during the wedding seasons. Everything gets very frantic then. We just try to stay organized and help whoever walks through the door. It is hard work, and your back usually hurts by evening.
