Rakesh Hair Draser Shop

My name is Rakesh and I run this shop. It is located at Khurra Brahmpuri, right by the stand. If you know the 302001 area of Jaipur, you probably know where the stand is. I’ve been cutting hair for a long time, starting back when I was just a boy helping out. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, but it’s mine. I have a couple of chairs and some basic equipment that has served me well over the years. I don't use any of those new machines, mostly just my scissors and a straight razor. People stop by to chat even if they don't need a haircut. We talk about the news or what's happening in the market nearby. The street outside is always busy with people going to and from the stand. I keep the door open to let some air in, even when it’s dusty. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just keep working with the sunlight coming through the door. It’s a simple life and a simple business. I don't have a website or anything like that. People just know I'm here. I like the routine of it all. I get to know everyone's stories. I plan to stay here at this spot in Khurra Brahmpuri as long as I can still hold my scissors straight. It’s just a local shop for local people. I usually close up around eight and head home to my family.
