Raj Textiles & Handicraft

Our shop is at 4 Jaipur GPO near the Ajmeri Gate. We are right in Indira Bazar, which is one of the busiest spots you can find. It’s right near the Art Gallery too. Raj Textiles & Handicraft is packed with colors. We have stacks of fabric and handmade things reaching almost to the ceiling. It’s a small space, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk in. The street outside is always full of people, cows, and motorbikes, so it’s never quiet here. We spend our days unfolding cloth for customers to look at and then folding it back up again. It’s a lot of work on the arms and back. We talk to people from all over the world who wander in after seeing the gate or the gallery. We don't use any fancy sales talk. We just show the prints and the embroidery and let people decide for themselves. Sometimes we sit on the floor to drink our tea because there’s more room there than on the chairs. Indira Bazar has a specific smell of street food and old textiles, and we’ve grown to love it. We’ve been part of this market for a long time, and we just keep doing what we do every single day.
