R K Bajaj

R K Bajaj is over at 2 Nayapura Maruti Colony. It’s a local spot that’s been part of the colony for a good amount of time. The building is simple, and we usually have a few bikes or parts sitting around outside. It’s a place where there is always the smell of grease and engine oil in the air. We spend our days tinkering with things and talking to the people who live nearby. Maruti Colony is a friendly place, and most of our day is spent chatting with customers who are also our neighbors. We don’t have a big corporate showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a workshop feel where we get our hands dirty. The floor is concrete and has some oil stains that won't ever come out. We have an old radio that plays in the background while we work. It’s not a complicated business. We just take care of the vehicles that come in and try to stay on top of the repairs. Sometimes it gets really busy and the small space feels even smaller. Other times, it’s quiet enough to sit on a stool and watch the traffic go by the colony gate. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still written down in a big ledger. It’s just a regular local shop where we do honest work every day. We enjoy being here in the colony.
