Priya Hair Art

Being located near the Airport Circle on Tonk Road means there is always a lot of noise and movement outside. Our shop, Priya Hair Art, is tucked into Shiv Colony in the D Block area. It is a small space but it works for what we do every day. Usually, we open up early because that is when people like to come in before they head off to their jobs. The mirrors are a bit old and sometimes the sink leaks a little if we aren't careful, but we manage just fine. We have a couple of chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years. Jaipur gets really dusty, so I am always wiping down the counters and the glass. Most of the time, the radio is playing some old songs in the background while we work on someone's hair. It is not a quiet place because of the planes taking off nearby and the cars on Tonk Road, but you get used to it after a week or two. We don't try to be something we aren't; it is just a place to get your hair cut and maybe talk about the weather or the local news. Sometimes kids come in with their fathers and they are always moving around in the chair. We just tell them to sit still for a minute. That is how the day goes by here in Shiv Colony.
