Pratap Handicrafts is located at 172-A in Bapu Bazar. If you know the bazaar, you know it’s always packed with people and lots of noise from morning until night. Our shop is right in the thick of it all. We’ve been here for many years, tucked away among all the other stalls and shops selling all sorts of things. It’s a small space, but we pack a lot into it. Every corner is usually filled with something interesting. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone in charge of social media. It’s mostly just us handling the daily visitors who wander in while they are shopping. The bazaar life is fast. One minute it’s quiet and you’re just sitting there, and the next you have ten people asking about different items all at once. We like the rush of it though. It’s much better than sitting in a silent room with nothing to do. Most of our days are spent reorganizing things on the shelves and talking to people who wander in from the busy street outside. The address has stayed the same since the very beginning. People recognize the 172-A sign from years ago. It’s not a fancy showroom with spotlights and expensive displays. We use regular light bulbs and hope for the best. Sometimes the dust from the street gets in when it’s windy, so we spend a lot of time cleaning things off. It’s just how it is in Bapu Bazar. We don't have any grand plans to move to a modern mall. This street has real history and we like being part of it.
