Poonam Home Tutorials is basically run out of our house in Prithviraj Nagar, near Maharani Farm. It’s at House No. 70, which is close to Vidhyasthali School. We started this because many parents in the neighborhood were looking for someone they could trust with their children's education after school hours. It is a very homely environment, as you can imagine. We don't have a big sign or a commercial office space. Students just come over and we sit at the dining table or in the spare room to study. It’s much quieter than those big coaching centers in the city. I find that kids are more comfortable asking questions when they are in a house rather than a cold classroom. We help with all sorts of school subjects. My husband helps out sometimes with the older kids, but mostly it is me. We have lived in this part of Jaipur for years, so we know the local schools and what they expect. Sometimes we have a bit of tea and snacks during the breaks. It is not a strict, rigid place, but we do make sure the homework gets finished. We don't do any big advertising. Most people find us through word of mouth from other parents at the school nearby. It’s just a small, honest way to help the local kids do better in their classes. If you are looking for a fancy institute, this isn't it, but it’s a good place to learn.
