Pooja Hair Beauty Parlour

Pooja Hair Beauty Parlour is situated in Shahpura, along the Old Delhi Road. This is a busy route with a lot of heavy vehicles passing by all the time. The shop is a place where the local women come to get away from the noise of the road for a bit. We have a few stations set up for hair and threading. The walls are decorated with some simple pictures and the shelves are full of various bottles and jars. It is a modest setup. Shahpura is a growing town and we see more people coming in every year. We spend a lot of time doing braids or cutting hair for schoolgirls. The afternoons are usually the busiest time when the household work is done. We have a small curtain for privacy and a few chairs that are a bit worn out but still good. The floor is tiled in a light color so you can see every bit of hair that falls. We are constantly sweeping. The smell of hair oil and soap is always there. It’s a friendly place where people share the local gossip. Being on the Old Delhi Road, we also get some people who are just traveling through and need something done quickly. We just keep the doors open and do what needs doing until the evening when things finally slow down.
