Pawan Hair Draser

Pawan Hair Draser is tucked away at the very end of Jai Lal Munshi Ka Rasta in the Chandpole Bazar area of Jaipur. This is part of the old city, so the streets are narrow and always crowded with shoppers and scooters. My shop is at the last crossroads of the lane. It is a small place that I have looked after for a long time. The walls have some old pictures of gods and some faded posters of hairstyles from many years ago. I only have two chairs because that is all that fits in the room. The mirrors are old and have a bit of a grey tint to them now. I don't mind it, and neither do the customers. Most of the people who come here live in the surrounding houses. We know all the family gossip and the local news. It is a place where people can relax for a few minutes away from the noise of the main bazar. I use a manual razor for most of my work because I think it gives a better shave than the electric ones. It takes a steady hand and some patience. I don't have any fancy signs, just the name painted above the door. It is a humble way to earn a living, but I am happy with it. We open early and stay until the last customer is gone at night.
