P K Gupta & Co is right in the middle of the bustle at 54 Bapu Bazar, specifically inside Jhulelal Market. If you know Bapu Bazar, you know how crowded and lively it gets every single day. Our office is tucked away in there among all the shops and traders. It’s a small space, but it’s ours and we’ve made it work for a long time. There is always the sound of people talking and vendors calling out right outside the door. We spend our days tucked away with ledgers and tax forms. It gets quite warm in the summer, but we keep the fans going and just get on with it. People usually drop by while they are out doing their other shopping in the market. We don't have a big reception area or fancy furniture. It is just a place to get work done. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, and it feels like a little community. Sometimes it is hard to find a place to sit because of all the files stacked on the chairs, but we manage. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a polished look. We just do the accounting and the paperwork that needs doing. Being in Jhulelal Market means we are right in the heart of the trade, which makes sense for what we do. It’s a busy spot but we like the energy of the bazaar.
