Oswal Plastic Industry

Working in Sitapura means you get used to the smell of industry and the heat. Our spot at H-726 in the RIICO area is where we make all the plastic goods. The machines are huge and they never really stop. It gets very hot inside, especially during the summer months when the sun beats down on the metal roof. I spend most of my time walking between the machines, making sure the plastic is melting right and the molds are clean. It’s a lot of repetitive work. We pack the finished items into cardboard boxes and stack them high up to the ceiling. There’s a constant hum that vibrates through the floor. It’s not a place for a quiet conversation. We wear heavy clothes to stay safe, but it makes the sweat worse. Lunch is usually eaten quickly on a bench outside just to get some fresh air. We aren't making anything fancy, just everyday items that people use without thinking about it. The trucks come and go, taking our crates to different cities. It’s a tough environment, and we’re always covered in bits of scrap plastic or grease. But we’ve been here at RIICO for a long time and we know how the machines breathe. It’s just what the day looks like for us at the factory. We don't have fancy offices, just the floor and the machines.
