Our workshop is tucked away at 126 7-A in the Jawahar Nagar Kacchi Basti area. It is a very crowded neighborhood and we work out of a small space where we make all our handicrafts. There isn't much room to move around because we have supplies like wood, cloth, and tools piled up in every corner. We have been living and working in this same spot for many years now. It is a very local setup where the neighbors all know each other and the kids are always running past the door. We don't have a big store with glass windows, it is more like a home workshop where the work never really stops. Most of the day is spent carving or painting or stitching depending on what we are making that week. My family helps out with the different stages of the process. It can be a bit chaotic when we have a big order to finish, but we just keep working through the night if we have to. The lighting in the workshop isn't the best and our tools are quite old, but we know how to use them well. People who want our work usually just hear about us through word of mouth and come find us in the basti. It is a modest life but we enjoy the process of making things with our hands.
