New Sangam Gents Parlours

We are situated on M G Road, right by the Sanganeri Gate and the old Minerva Cinema. This is an old part of Jaipur, and you can really feel the history when you walk around here. The shop is called New Sangam Gents Parlours, but we have been around for quite a while. The road is always packed with cycles, autos, and people walking to the market. We have a small space, just enough for a few chairs and a place for people to sit while they wait. The walls have some old mirrors that have been there for years. We use the traditional way of doing things, with the straight razors and the shaving brushes. There is a certain smell to the shop, a mix of aftershave and old wood. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that move the air around. It gets quite loud with the traffic from Sanganeri Gate, but we are used to it by now. We know the shopkeepers nearby and often share a cup of tea in the afternoons. It is a men’s place through and through. Guys come in for a quick haircut or a shave, and they usually stay to chat for a few minutes about what is happening in the city. We don't do anything too complicated. It is just a place to get groomed and have a bit of a break from the busy street outside. The floor is concrete and we sweep it out every hour.
