New Looks Saloon & Parlour

New Looks Saloon & Parlour has been around for some time now. We are located near the Tejaji Mandir on Ajmer Road in the Sodala area of Jaipur. It is a simple place where we do haircuts and shaves for the local men. I started this shop because I knew the trade well. We have a few chairs and mirrors, and that's about it. The shop is small, and during the hot months, the ceiling fan has to work pretty hard. People from Sushilpura come by quite often since we are close. We aren't a big fancy salon with air conditioning. It's just a regular spot to get cleaned up. I spend most of my day here, usually starting early before the sun gets too high. We keep a stack of old newspapers for people to read while they wait their turn. Sometimes the traffic on Ajmer Road gets really loud, but we are used to it. The temple nearby brings in a lot of people on special days. We don't do any of those modern styles that take hours. It is just basic grooming for everyday people. I try to sweep the floor as much as possible, though the hair always seems to find a corner to hide in. It’s a honest way to make a living and I enjoy talking to the regulars who have been coming here for years. Nothing too special about it, just a local business.
