Mohan Lal Kajor Mal

Chandpole Bazar is one of those places that never really changes much. Our shop at number 269 has been part of this street for quite a while now. The name on the board is Mohan Lal Kajor Mal, and it’s been that way since the beginning. It’s an old building with high ceilings and thick walls. We sell various things, whatever the local people need. Most of the day is spent sitting on the cushioned floor or behind the old wooden counter talking to customers. Some people have been coming here for decades. They remember when the street looked different, though it feels just as busy now with the rickshaws and bikes constantly going by. It’s not a modern store with bright lights. It’s a bit dim inside, which is actually nice when the sun is beating down outside. We keep our stock in old cupboards and boxes. There’s no computer system or anything like that, we just use the old ledger books to keep track of things. It’s a slow pace compared to the new parts of the city, but it works for us. People come in, we have a chat, they buy what they need, and they go on their way. It’s just a traditional way of doing things in the heart of the old city. We don't need any big advertisements, just the same spot we've always had.
