We are right across from the Sbbj on Hawa Mahal Road, at number 121. It’s a very busy part of the city because of all the tourists and the traffic going past the palace. Our shop is usually full of the sounds of the street, the horns and the people talking. We’ve been here for quite a while, and we’re used to the hustle and bustle of this historic area. Inside, the shop is packed with all sorts of handicrafts, from small trinkets to larger pieces that take up a lot of room. We don't have a fancy layout; we just put things where they fit. Often, you’ll see us standing near the door just watching the crowds go by. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so there’s always someone you know behind the counter. We don't use any slick sales tactics; we just show people what we have if they ask. The building itself is old, like most things on this road, which gives it a bit of character even if the walls need a fresh coat of paint every now and then. It can get very crowded during the festival seasons, but that’s just life on Hawa Mahal Road. We just keep doing what we do, day in and day out, in this little corner of the city. If it gets too hot, we just turn on the old fan and wait for the evening breeze to come through the front door.
