Mariya Crafts

Down here in Sangaria Jodhpur, we spend most of our time surrounded by wood, fabric, and tools. Our place at H2-513 Jaipur G P O Mgc isn't very large, but we manage to fit everything in. It gets pretty crowded when we have a lot of orders to pack. Mariya Crafts started out small and it still feels that way most days, even when we are really busy. There is usually sawdust on the floor or scraps of material lying around. We don't spend much time cleaning up until the end of the week because there’s always something else to finish. Jodhpur can get incredibly hot in the summer, which makes working in the shop a bit tough, but we just keep the coolers running and keep going. Sometimes the neighbors come by to chat or see what we are making. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time. We don’t really do fancy meetings. Usually, we just sit around the workbench and figure out how to fix a mistake or improve a design. Packaging takes up a lot of our space, boxes are stacked almost to the ceiling sometimes. We try to stay organized but it’s a struggle when there are so many small pieces to keep track of. It’s a simple setup we have here, just people making things with their hands and hoping everything fits in the truck when it arrives for pickup.
