If you come down to the Jhotwara Ravangate main chouraha, you will find us right there on Kalwar Road 1. It is a noisy spot because of all the vehicles honking at the intersection. Inside Mahima Music, it is a bit different, though you can still hear the buses passing by. We have all sorts of things tucked into the corners, from old harmoniums to some newer guitars hanging on the walls. The strings get dusty if we do not wipe them down every few days. People come in mostly to look or to ask if we can fix a broken bridge on a violin. It is a small space, so you have to be careful not to knock over a drum set when you are walking to the back. There is a smell of old wood and maybe a bit of incense from the small shrine we keep near the entrance. Sometimes kids come in after school just to stare at the keyboards. We do not have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. The lighting is a little dim in the back where the spare parts are, so we use a torch sometimes. Dealing with musicians is interesting because they always want to try everything out before they buy a single pick or a set of strings. It is a slow business some days, and then suddenly the shop is full of people talking about tunes and gear.
