Maharaja Hair Dresser

At Maharaja Hair Dresser, things move at a bit of a slower pace compared to the main city. We are located in the Agarwal Farm area of Mansarovar, right on the Mansarovar Road. It is a residential neighborhood, so most of the people who walk through the door are neighbors or people living in the blocks nearby. I start the day by cleaning the front glass and setting out the towels. The shop has been here through many changes in the area. I remember when there were fewer buildings around, but now it is quite crowded. Inside, the walls are painted a simple color, and I have a few posters of different haircuts, though most men just ask for the same short style they always get. The chairs are old-fashioned and heavy, made of metal and leather that has cracked a bit over the years. I spend a lot of time sharpening my tools and making sure the water spray bottle is full. In the afternoons, when the sun is high over Jaipur, it gets quiet and I sometimes sit on the stool near the door just watching the bikes go by. It is a decent way to spend the day, talking to the elders who come in for a beard trim and hearing about their families. We don't use any loud music, just the sound of the scissors and the hum of the fan.
