Textorium Jaipur

Textorium Jaipur is right on M. I. Road, at No. 376. If you know Jaipur, you know that M. I. Road is basically the heart of the city's commercial life. It’s always crowded with tourists looking for handicrafts and locals just going about their errands. We’ve been at this spot for a long time. The shop itself is old-fashioned, with high ceilings and shelves stacked right up to the top with different textiles. It’s not one of those modern malls with air conditioning that freezes you out; it’s a bit more traditional than that. During the summers, it gets really hot, and we mostly rely on the old ceiling fans to keep the air moving. We spend a lot of time talking to people who walk in, showing them whatever we have in stock that day. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud you can barely hear yourself think, but that’s just part of being on such a busy main road. We don't really do much advertising or anything like that; people usually find us because they were walking by or someone told them where we were. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the floorboards creak a bit in the back, but it gives the place some character. It’s just a regular shop where we sell what we have and try to keep things moving. It feels like home to most of us who work here.
