Mukesh Handicrafts is located at D-31 on Marg number B-6. We are tucked away in Kumawat Colony near Khatipura Road in Jhotwara. It is a bit of a maze to find us if you don't know the area well. We have been making things here for a long time. Mostly it is wood and some metal work that we do by hand. The workshop is always a bit messy with shavings and tools lying around. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. It's more of a working space where the actual making happens. We make various items that people use in their homes or give as gifts. Some days the heat makes it hard to work in the back, but we keep at it. We aren't into that mass-produced stuff you see in big malls. Everything we do has a bit of a different look because machines don't make them. Sometimes a piece of wood has a knot or a crack we have to work around. That’s just part of it. My brother and a few local guys handle the carving. We drink a lot of tea while we work and talk about the news. It’s a simple life here in the colony. We just focus on finishing the orders we have on the bench today. It takes time to get things right, but we don't like to rush the process if we can help it.
