In the middle of Maharana Pratap Nagar, we have our little beauty spot. Khatipura is a nice place to work because the people are friendly and everyone knows each other. We are close to the Lal Mandir, so a lot of ladies stop by after they visit the temple. The shop is small and simple. We don't have those big fancy machines; we just use our hands and basic stuff for threading and waxing. The walls are painted a light color, and we have some old pictures of hairstyles on the wall that have been there for years. Sometimes it gets really crowded on weekends, and ladies have to wait on the plastic chairs we keep near the door. We talk about everything—kids, cooking, the weather. It feels more like a living room than a business most days. The sun comes in through the front window in the afternoon, so we have to pull the curtain to stay cool. It’s a quiet life here in this part of Jaipur. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just do the work, clean up the floor, and get ready for the next person who walks in. Sometimes the neighbor brings over some snacks, and we share them while we work. It’s just how things go around here. We’ve been in this spot for quite a long time and don't plan on moving anywhere else. It is our second home.
